Helen Zilke, who died at age 92 in August of 2009, left $1.1 million to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. She made this contribution unannounced and with no request for recognition. Mrs. Zilke's family are proud of her big heart and grateful for this recognition of her devotion to the care of animals. The Helen Zilke Memorial Garden is a perpetual expression of how compassion and generosity can come together in an extraordinary way, reminding us of the power of the human spirit. Her generosity turned the dream of a new shelter into a reality.
When people make these kinds of contributions in the community, they inspire others to make contributions, whether large or small. The Memorial Garden is designed to provide a lasting tribute to the animals and the people who love them. Thank you Helen Zilke!
